If a Doula were a drug, it would be unethical not to use it.

julieWho I Am
I am a D.O.N.A. trained doula, stay-at-home Mom and a midwifery student in the Spokane area. I have been a doula since Dec. 2004. I have had two births of my own, a home birth-transfer to the hospital and a home birth. I have attended water births, home births, VBAC, induction and regular hospital births.

My Philosophy
Giving birth is one of the most powerful moments of a person’s life, the transition can often be less than we hoped or expected. My desire and ultimate goal is for the families I work with to have the most memorable and loving experience possible. I support and respect the choices of the families I serve as each and every mother deserves great support.

What I Offer

  • 2 prenatal meetings, the option for an accompanied appointment with your provider.
  • 24 hour on-call support starting roughly two weeks prior to your due date and until delivery.
  • Access to my personal lending library.
  • Information and support on all range of topics of pregnancy, labor and delivery, post-partum as desired.
  • Doula care in your home or choice of labor-place (hospital, birth center, etc.).
  • Continued care for roughly 2 - 3 hours after delivery.
  • Follow-up calls post-delivery, birth story of your birth and a postpartum meeting to admire baby and review the birth if desired.
  • Breastfeeding support if necessary.
  • Much more!

The Cost
My fee is $300 payable prior to, or upon delivery day. There is a retainer fee of $50 (included in the total) that allows me to plan for your doula care. More detailed information available upon interview.

If I am not a good fit
I am part of a doula network and am happy to refer you to other doulas in the area. The most important aspect of a doula with the couple he or she serves is a good fit.
