About the Class

Women, their partners and families are encouraged to attend our free educational class early in pregnancy or even prior to conception, as this is the optimal time for learning about selecting caregivers, choosing a birth environment that feels safe and identifying the personal preferences and beliefs that will inform your birth choices. In this class we will discuss:

  • What Contributes to a Positive Birth Experience
  • Lamaze® 6 Healthy Birth Practices
  • Birth Settings
  • Types of Care Providers
  • Medical Interventions
  • Childbirth Preparation Classes
  • Labor Support & Doulas
  • Planning Your Birth

This interactive, fun class will help you understand all of your childbirth options and give you the resources you’ll need to plan for your birth. Participants will receive a copy of Bloom Spokane’s printed provider directory to assist you in beginning your search for mother-friendly care providers. At each class we will also be giving away one copy of Marsden Wagner’s book Creating Your Birth Plan and one copy of the Exercise for Pregnency and Beyond DVD.

What Parents are Saying

“This is a fantastic class. There was a lot of good information from people who know what they’re talking about. There was a presentation, and then some time for meet and greet/questions and answers. They also sent participants home with a whole packet full of good-to-know articles. Go Bloom Spokane! Great job!”

“I am a first-time mother and have done a fair amount of reading. This class has helped with good questions to ask my care provider and decreased my anxiety about hospital birth.”

“I had so many questions walking in…now I feel better educated on my questions and where to find answers.”
