At Mother’s Haven, we’re passionate about babies.
Mother’s Haven was created in 2001 to offer mothers a sense of community. A routine bra fitting or lesson in the use of a baby sling may evolve into an informal lactation consultation. Mother’s Haven offers Mom’s Support Groups, a Breastfeeding Support Group, Baby Sign Language classes and Infant Massage classes.

Breastfeeding Support Group

Meets weekly on Tuesdays at 12:00 p.m.
The group is facilitated by Alicia Burgett, an International Board Certified Lactation Consultant. Bring your baby to our support group and enjoy the comfort of being with other new moms who are sharing similar experiences. We laugh, cry, talk, ask questions, and share in a friendly and supportive atmosphere.*

In addition to the weekly support group, Alicia is now offering one on one consulting at Mother’s Haven. Consultations are being offered at the discounted rate of $65. Alicia is also available for home visits for a fee of $85. If you are having difficulty breastfeeding, it’s a good investment—that’s a LOT cheaper than even a month’s worth of formula! Call Mother’s Haven at (208) 676-1300 or Alicia at (509) 226-0148 to schedule an appointment.

Infant Massage Classes

Taught by Margaret Hildahl
Certified Infant Massage Instructor

Mother’s Haven offers a 5-week series of Infant Massage Classes. We meet one time per week for approximately 1 to 1 ½ hours, and each week we learn to massage a different part of the baby’s body. By the time we have completed 5 weeks you will be able to complete a full massage with your baby.

The cost for these classes is $65.00 and that includes a small bottle of massage oil, many handouts and 15% off the book, “Infant Massage, A Handbook for Loving Parents”.

Babies can begin the class anywhere from 3 weeks of age, all the way up to the pre-crawling stage. They can still be massaged after that age, but if your baby is crawling all over the room, while you are attempting to do a massage, it will be very hard for you to relax and enjoy doing the massage.

We only have 6 babies in each class, and mom, dad, grandparent or anyone involved with the baby’s life is welcome to attend. These gatherings can be a great opportunity for parents to meet other parents and very often the members of the class will form friendships and get together after the 5 weeks has been completed.

Moms’ Support Groups

Moms and babies meet weekly with other women and offer mother-to-mother guidance, support, and companionship. These groups provide a forum for new mothers to get together to compare notes, vent frustrations and form friendships.
